Experience

Owner, Your Happy Place, San Francisco, CA 2008-Present

I provide holistic wellness services that enhance clients’ health and vitality. Many of my clients present with specific needs related to age or health conditions. Clients find me to be a calming presence and a nurturing provider. I empower people with knowledge and information related to the service they choose or the problems they present with. I am self employed and must generate all of my own business. In addition to the skills of my trade I have learned marketing skills, inventory management, and financial record keeping.  Clients choose from therapeutic body treatments,  reiki, customized facials, waxing services, private yoga lessons and meditation.  I began my private practice, renting a treatment room inside D4 Hair Salon, in San Francisco. I moved my business into my own space in 2013.  I have great ratings on Yelp, a popular Facebook page and the link to my website is http://www.yourhappyplacesf.com/ .

Education

I really believe in the pursuit of lifelong education. In order to grow professionally and personally, I continually enroll in courses that feed my hunger for knowledge in a variety of health and wellness related subjects.

CITY COLLEGE SAN FRANCISCO, SAN FRANCISCO, CA.

I am currently enrolled in courses that fulfill transfer requirements for health related degree programs. I recently completed the new Yoga Teacher Training certificate program.

Kaplan University Online, bachelors of science, health & wellness, 2012

I studied a variety of health related subjects such as nutrition, fitness, and environmental health. Also there was an emphasis on health care related history and integral health trends.

Skyline college, san bruno, ca, associates of liberal arts, 2002

I took many of my foundational courses at Skyline. Additionally, I took business and art classes for my personal fulfillment. I worked on campus both at the preschool and in the Athletic Training Department.

MOUNT MADONNA CENTER, TRADITIONAL ASHTANGA YOGA TEACHER TRAINING 200 HOUR CERTIFICATE, 2005

The program included techniques, shat karma, asana, pranayama and meditation. It also included teaching methodologies for a variety of people, including children and pregnant women.  Anatomy, physiology, ayurveda, philosophy, ethics and lifestyle. Electives included chanting, ritual and yoga psychology. A practicum was given to evaluate our knowledge and ability to apply what we learned. The school is registered with Yoga Alliance.

My certification will be awarded after completing my final project, now in progress.

CCSF Yoga Teacher Training, San Francisco, CA July 2013

I recently completed a second  200 hour equivalent Yoga Teacher certification program at CCSF.  The comprehensive program requires students to take a variety of semester length courses including multiple levels of yoga, anatomy and includes a mentorship program.  I took the prerequisite courses over a period of time at both CCSF and Skyline College in San Bruno, CA.  With my mentor, Suvani Stepanek I have assisted the Senior’s and Restorative Yoga class for three semesters and Beginning Yoga for one semester. I also have filled in as a substitute teacher when asked.  At Skyline College I did work-study in the Athletic Training department. I learned to evaluate and treat injuries. I also was a guest speaker at dance classes, teaching bodywork and stretches.
